The Helping Hand
Rescue Mission's (HHRM) main priority is to reach children that are suffering under impoverished conditions, and to provide
families with educational and character building instruction, food, supplies, and love.
The Mission was founded in 1965 by Reverend J.A. Gaines, his wife, Reverend Rose Marie Gaines,
and her mother, Florence E. Meringola. After witnessing local poverty conditions first hand, they invested everything that
they had with the view that if they could help even one person it was worth the investment.

learning experiences and resulting grades.
Celebrations bring joy to hundreds of children that would otherwise be without. Easter, Thanksgiving, and
Christmas are among the holidays celebrated at Happy Day Express. Baskets of toys, candy, clothing, and food are provided
to children and families within our community.
